Jason Schmidt Avendaño
Jason Schmidt Avendaño M.A. (He, Him, El), is a third-year Ph.D. student studying Social Neuroscience, with a background in Psychology and Vocal Performance from Stetson University. He has two primary research lines using psychophysiological methods (EEG). The first explores the intricate connections between music and language, investigating predictive processing's impact on EEG-ERP waveforms that index expectation and integration mechanisms. His second line of research, delves into the neural mechanisms of emotion processing, focusing on coping strategies, threat perception, and negative health outcomes in the LGBTQIA2S+ community.

THE TEAM
Our research is rooted in cognitive neuroscience methods, focusing on music perception, cognition in nature, and the vital role of diversity, equity, and inclusion in psychology. We utilize advanced techniques, such as EEG, to uncover the neural basis of music processing and production, study cognition in the wild, and work towards a more inclusive psychology field.
